A discharge rod is a tool used in electrical systems to discharge residual electrical energy from capacitors or other devices that may store electrical charge. It is typically a metal rod with a pointed end that is connected to an insulated handle. When a capacitor or other device needs to be discharged, the pointed end of the discharge rod is brought into contact with the terminal of the device.
This creates a low-resistance path for the stored electrical energy to discharge safely, without the risk of electrical shock or damage to equipment. Discharge rods are commonly used in situations where electrical equipment needs to be serviced or repaired, or when the equipment is being decommissioned.
